Foundation Program

Chinese from scratch and preparation for a Chinese university: a Foundation program or a language course.

A Foundation program is the bridge between school and a Chinese university. You study not only the language but also the subjects you'll need for your bachelor's degree.

The program combines intensive Chinese with core subjects — maths, physics, chemistry and more — depending on your chosen field. You get used to studying in Chinese, learn the terminology and prepare for admission. Many students go on to a bachelor's degree after their Foundation year.

A language course is Chinese and nothing else. It suits those starting from zero or wanting to level up quickly.

It lasts from one semester to a year. Classes run every weekday in small groups with students from dozens of countries: grammar, speaking, listening and characters. Teachers are native speakers, and practice continues after class. At the end you can take the HSK exam and move on to a bachelor's or master's program.

Your first year in China isn't only about studying. It's your first trips, new friends and a China you discover for yourself.

Weekends and holidays are your time to discover the country: walk the Great Wall, climb up to the floating peaks of Zhangjiajie, see the Terracotta Army in Xi'an, stroll along Shanghai's waterfront at night and meet the pandas in Chengdu. By the end of the program you speak Chinese with confidence, know where and what you want to study next, and move smoothly on to a bachelor's or master's degree. We'll help you choose between a Foundation program and a language course and be with you every step of the way.
